HOW TO BE FRENCH EN ALBERTA
A new documentary series
For immediate release, December 6, 2016 – Edmonton | Alberta | Canada
Productions Loft begins production on the first ever French-language series supported by a TELUS Optik™ local programming grant.
Productions Loft Inc. is officially in production on a new documentary series called How to be French en Alberta. The six part short-documentary series will premiere for free on TELUS Optik TV On Demand in the fall of 2017.
French was the first European language spoken—long before English—in the territory that later became the province of Alberta. Today, Alberta has Canada’s third largest minority francophone population, after Ontario and New Brunswick.
This French language series explores in 6 parts, the rich cultural history and unique lifestyle of Franco-Albertans. Character and story driven, the series delves into past and current issues, trends, happenings and events through captivating and entertaining voices relevant to the community as a whole and offers the viewer insight into experiencing francophone culture in Alberta.
Each episode will feature people and places within the francophone community in Edmonton and its surrounding regions. Content will be in French with English subtitles.
With the support of TELUS we are proud to be producing French content to be broadcast on a platform with a predominantly English audience. We are excited to be engaging the community in a new way. Thus, building a bridge, broadening our reach and interacting with a fresh audience. Co-producers, Steve Jodoin and Marie-France Guerrette are in full swing and will begin filming early in the new year.
